fripSide（フリップサイド）是一支日本的男女三人音乐组合，成立于2002年。所属经纪公司为Three Nine Entertainment，所属唱片公司兼厂牌为NBC Universal Entertainment Japan。他们的官方粉丝俱乐部名为“freakSide”。

在2002年，八木沼通过互联网招募主唱，当时还是高中生的nao被选中并组成了乐队。2003年，他们以第一期的身份发行了首张同人专辑《fripSide的首次奥德赛》。逐渐扩大销售渠道，2008年以第一期身份发行了第一期的第一张单曲《勇敢之花》正式出道。然而，2009年nao毕业，随后在同年以第二代主唱的身份迎来了南条爱乃，并以第二期的身份在单曲《only my railgun》中再次正式出道。2022年，南条爱乃毕业，同年以第三代主唱的身份迎来了上杉和阿部两位成员。nao的在职期被称为第一期，南条的在职期被称为第二期，而上杉和阿部的在职期则被称为第三期。

fripSide这个名字是由八木沼创造的，灵感来自唱片的B面，flip side的含义是B面，其中包含了八木沼“想要把所有的歌都当作A面来制作”的意愿。“S”是大写的，是为了致敬八木沼的名字悟志（Satoshi），同时为了避免与来自美国奥克兰的乐队Flipside和活动企划公司Flipside在版权和商标上的混淆。

小室哲哉、浅仓大介等人一直以来都在推广“不让数字J-POP的灯火熄灭”的理念，fripSide也以“想要贴近动画和游戏”为立场。

八木沼回忆说，第一期是他根据自己的音乐素养在“实验场”中摸索出来的，挑选什么样的东西，如何排列的过程。与此同时，第二期是以南条的主唱为前提，巧妙地融合了他们之前培养的音乐性，将展开更受公众欢迎的音乐作为理念。

此外，八木沼经常提到的一点是，“南條的歌声是理想的，而我（八木沼）则为她提供了fripSide的基本架构。我制作声音，南條唱歌，这就是fripSide。”。

从第二期开始，除了第二张专辑《Decade》以外，他们的专辑标题都以“无限的综合”为主题。在第三张专辑《无限的综合3》发售时，八木沼表示这是“fripSide的主题，也代表了fripSide作为一个活动的广度”[。至于精选专辑，仍然延续第一期的《fripSide最精选》的命名方式。

nao的个人项目在第一期fripSide的工作人员的支持下进行。最初，他被视为另一个名义的项目，于2007年由Visual Art提出“nao唱电波歌曲怎么样”的建议。然而，由于八木沼不想超越fripSide已确立的立场，因此转为进行个人项目。2008年发行了专辑《兔子症候群》，开始了个人项目。他与第一期fripSide一同活动并结束。
